Watercolor is not a medium to be totally controlled and manipulated, and of course that is the very beauty of its quality. The actual technical aspect of how watercolor works is that the light passes through the brushstrokes of color, hits the paper, and bounces back through the pigment giving you the color.
Transparent watercolor allows for a freshness and luminosity in its washes and for deft calligraphic brushwork that makes it a most alluring medium.

During the coronavirus pandemic I worked on a variety of personal project including this very special portrait.
This is my dog Lola! It’s imagery that’s been sitting with me for a long time. I took a picture of her while she was visiting my painting studio around three years ago. She is so wise looking with her cocked head crossed paws. A lady!
I never thought I was one to love painting flowers! But , apparently I am, abstract ones!
